Top Places and Things to Do in Cincinnati
There is a sign in the Hotel Covington that best sums up the region: If these United States are to be considered a body, then Ohio would be the Heart and Kentucky the Soul.
October is a great time of year to be in Greater Cincinnati. The weather is comfortable and dry and there are a lot of great activities and events. After Brandemonium has wrapped up each day, put on some comfortable shoes, a light-weight jacket, and start exploring.
Since you’ll be staying at The Westin in the Central Business District, the first thing to do is cross Fifth Street and enjoy Fountain Square. The iconic Genius of Water statue that sits atop the Tyler Davidson Fountain is THE Cincinnati landmark. (Sorry, Carew Tower, Roebling Suspension Bridge, and Union Terminal. It’s true.) Besides, Fountain Square is where Cincinnati gathers to celebrate, and it’s programmed year-round.
Head on over the Walnut Street and you’ll see a street car stop. (Download the app to make riding super easy.) You can head towards The Banks and spend some time at Smale Riverfront Park and enjoy picturesque views of the Ohio River. If you don’t feel like chilling out and want to have some fun, then stay on the street car until it stops at 12th and Vine. At that point, you are in Over the Rhine and there are tons of shops, bars, and restaurants to keep you entertained all night.
For great views of the city - and finding the best selection of bourbon - jump on the Tank Shuttle and head over to Northern Kentucky. Newport is on the east side of the Licking River and has family-friendly entertainment. On the west side of the Licking River, is Covington. Think of it as the quaint neighborhood with cozy coffee shops and bourbon bars.
Now that you know how to navigate Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, check out the Cincinnati USA website to find the perfect way to spend your time whether your in the Central Business District, The Banks, Over the Rhine, Covington, or Newport.
